Be Inspired by Others:

My journey as a nomadic artist has seen my path cross those of various creative souls - Artists, Writers, Architects, Filmmakers and Photographers. I'm certain a visit to their sites will inspire you.

Anna Korver - Sculptor

In 2005, Anna and I held a joint
exhibition in Christchurch after meeting at a small business workshop and developing a firm friendship based on mutual respect for each other's works. Do take the time to view Anna's elegant sculptures of the female form - my personal collection includes one of her beautiful wood carvings after we realised we both wanted a piece of each other's work and agreed on a trade.

Derek Golding - Photographer

Derek is a relatively 'late bloomer' when considering his photography yet this has in no way affected his command of the lens. A visit to his website shows his broad range of interests and skills. You will find his work inspiring - especially the brooding, moody shots of Oamaru, New Zealand. Derek is currently adding to his extensive portfolio, travelling to some of the most remote and beautiful locations in the South Island. A freelance writer in his spare time, Derek is a contributor of articles on photography to Canterbury's leading newspaper, The Press.

Shwan Al Hashimi - Architect

Shwan and I first met in 2001 and recognised a similar passion for creating whilst we were both completing our tertiary studies. Through my friendship with Shwan, I was drawn toward exploring arabic calligraphy with Shwan's interpretive assistance. A visit to Shwan's site is a glimpse of futuristic vision.

Maria Feliolini Ifopo - Writer, Artist

Maria is a multi-talented creative soul whom I befriended whilst we both served on The Press' (Fairfax NZ) Election Campaign Jury. Our task at the time was to participate in journalists' questioning of the political party leaders in the lead up to New Zealand's 2005 General Election. Maria has been a driving force of the Pasifika Arts Festival - a celebration of Pacific Island Cultures; as well as a regular contributor to Te Karaka, a Ngai Tahu publication.

Aden Shillito - Filmmaker

Aden shares my passion for film and story telling with moving images. Meeting in TAFS101 at Canterbury University, we later collaborated on a political documentary shot in New York in 2004 where Aden ensured our post-production maintained momentum after a thoroughly exhausting 18 days of filming in the streets of Manhattan. Aden has many short films to his credit and will no doubt make an enduring mark on the New Zealand filmmaking scene in years to come. To his credit, Aden has served with the Belladonna Film Trust bringing a popular film festival to Christchurch each year.

The Johannesburg Art Foundation
"One didn't graduate from the Foundation. Courses were about skills, but marks weren't given. You didn't need a matric to study there. It was here that the romantic notion "artist" - in layperson's terms, a layabout or scallywag - was taken seriously. Under the leafy shadows in northern Johannesburg, in this place of innocence, art was the equaliser, not money, qualification or political affiliation..."
